A timeless and utilitarian mid-layer that uses the finest materials available. The 4-way stretch fleece has a super durable nylon face and beautiful soft lining that provides exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio. The modern shawl collar is shaped to protect the front and back of the neck from cold mountain winds. The extended sleeves are curved at the bottom for weather protection and also have built-in thumb holes for easy layering.
A classic in the cult of heritage packs, the KNAPSACK can be found from Tokyo to New York to Zurich. We started making this pack in ‘78 and we have kept producing it with virtually no changes for about 40 years. The Knapsack now has a padded back panel for additional comfort when carrying outdoor or city gear. It’s a great simple bag for carrying simple stuff.
This design originated from one of Dan Madden’s personal packs. It’s based on a classic book bag with the addition of some features that are needed in the backcountry. Dan used this pack for almost 20 years on day hikes in the Rockies. It’s a great pack for stashing the basics like a rain shell and gloves, a water bottle and small camera.
This is the “one” pack that is needed for almost all activities in a mountain town. It is sized for hikes above tree line, flexible enough for adventure trail rides, and stiff enough for side country skiing. The design and materials encompass all that we have learned in over 40 years of pack-making and is constructed to last for decades of use.
